Among the most common deformity belongs deflection of the big toe, which is often caused by unsuitable footwear (pointy, narrow or too short). The deflection of the big toe from its natural axis causes its restricted movement and prevents it from correct function during the foot lifting phase.

The big toe leans against the neighboring toe and thus puts pressure on its joint. As a result a condition known as osteophyte occurs.

The so called hammer toes, a deformity caused predominantly by unsuitable footwear such as shoes on high heels, is another common problem. Further complication is a sole prolongation, which can be caused by degenerated ligaments or weak foot muscles. In this case toes are contracted together into a hammer position and can cause sores and bunions. Bunions often result from excessive pressure either from unsuitable footwear or bone pressure and cause dying of gem cells, their hardening and keratinizing.
